Which yams and root vegetables does Harvest Gate export from Sri Lanka?

Harvest Gate exports purple yam, innala, kiri ala, cassava, sweet potato and elephant foot yam from Sri Lanka. As a Sri Lanka yams exporter it packs each root for export and quotes per consignment, in the quantity and packing the buyer asks for.

These tropical root vegetables are staples of Sri Lankan cooking, boiled for breakfast with coconut or cooked in curries. Many are hard to find fresh outside South and Southeast Asia. Harvest Gate is an agricultural exporter based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It sells them to importers, wholesalers, grocers and restaurants overseas.

Purple yam

Dioscorea alata

Purple yam grows as large, rough-skinned tubers with deep violet flesh and a mild, sweet, nutty taste. Known as ube in the Philippines, it colours and flavours cakes, ice cream and desserts. In Sri Lanka it is boiled or cooked in curries. Harvest Gate is a purple yam supplier to importers and grocers overseas.

Innala

Plectranthus rotundifolius

Innala is a small, knobbly tuber of a plant in the mint family, with thin brown skin and white flesh. It is a favourite of Sri Lankan home cooking: cooks boil it to eat with grated coconut and sambol or cook it in curries. Harvest Gate exports innala from Sri Lanka to importers and Sri Lankan grocers overseas.
